Outgoing President Will Stewart challenged me to improve our communications to members. I promised I would. Here, thanks to editor Michael Osborne and several contributors, is our relaunched quarterly newsletter.
Your board is assessing what went well on election day, what requires more effort next time out and what can be done now to prepare for the next Federal election. Expect a full report next quarter.
We won big in Halton. We have the most promising rookie MP, according to the press; a voice for Halton at the Cabinet table; no debt and even some money for the next campaign; and, finally, an even stronger board that will afford an equal say for all, whether you live in Burlington, Campbellville, Kilbride, Milton or Oakville.
Thank you to: those who volunteered during the election; Lisa Raitt, who exemplifies the kind of Canadian who should stand for elected office and serve in Cabinet; Will Stewart, who led our Association Phoenix-like from the ashes of disaster; former Association Presidents Pat Whyte and Keith Hesse, who provide regular and wise counsel as board members; and longtime members like Claude Twiss, Mel Phelps, Mike Atkinson, and Ann and Doug Ptolemy, who’ve seen it all and are still there when needed. Folks, this is why we are one of the richest Associations in Canada!
Talk to you again next quarter. In the meantime, if you have a question, comment or concern, please don’t hesitate to call me at (905) 878-7638 or drop me a line at challinors@sympatico.ca.
